Como ya sabrás, todos los productos de esta página son vegan friendly; es decir, los materiales no son de origen animal (como puede ser la piel, el cuero o la lana). Sin embargo hay muchos modelos y diseños de bolsos y mochilas que pueden crear confusión en el sentido de no saber si es cuero o una imitación.

A mí me ha pasado alguna vez de estar mirando una página de alguna marca sostenible y de slow fashion en la que no encuentro específicamente que no utilicen materiales de origen animal. Y esto me ha hecho acabar cerrando la página. Y creo que si eres una marca que sigue determinados principios, éstos han de ser claros y estar bien especificados.

Pues bien, lo dicho, en Merchita von Belendi sólo se trabaja con materiales de origen no animal y en este sentido tienes 2 tipos de polipiel y diferentes colores a elegir.

En primer lugar un polipiel que es flexible pero no demasiado fino (como sería el scay). Los colores disponibles son negro, marrón clarito y morado.

En segundo lugar un polipiel que es más rígido y tiene un aspecto muy parecido al cuero. Los colores disponibles son rojo oscuro, marrón, negro y gris oscuro.

As you may already know every product in this site are vegan friendly, that means no animal product (such as leather, fur or wool). However there are bags and backpacks that may you doubt because of the similar appearance.

I have already experience when navigating trough a slow fashion brand website where I cannot find easily if the products have any animal material. I actually think it is really important to let the potencial client know about that.

Therefore I do not hesitate to repeat this point as often as necessary . Merchita von Belendi offers you two different types of faux leather:

Firstly a leatherette that is flexible but not too much thin (as skay it is). There are 3 different colours: black, brown and purple.

The second option is a more rigid leatherette that have a similar appearance as leather. You have 4 colours: dark red, brown, black and grey.

Now you just have to choose the best combination with one of these faux leathers. I suggest you to navigate through the website in order to find a match!

Cómo lavar mi mochila · How do I wash my backpack?

Una de las cosas más importantes para mí cuando diseño vuestros bolsos y accesorios es que sean productos de calidad, útiles y por consecuencia que duren mucho. Para que puedan durar en condiciones es importante saber cómo lavarlos y mantenerlos limpios. Así que hoy os comento cómo limpiar y planchar* las mochilas merchita von Belendi de una forma adecuada.

Mochilas con tela y polipiel: lo más práctico es limpiar de vez en cuando el polipiel con un trapito mojado en agua. Las manchas de líquidos o suciedad en general se irán en un plis. Cuando la mochila combina polipiel y tela, querrás lavar la tela también de vez en cuando (y con un trapo no siempre es suficiente). Para lavarla en la lavadora, elige un programa de 30ºC y mete al mochila dada la vuelta en una bolsa/red de lavadora para que los apliques no golpeen la lavadora o dañen otras prendas. No es recomendable lavarla en exceso, claro está. Mejor mantenerlo limpio usando el trapito mojado de vez en cuando.

Cuando la saques de la lavadora, dale la vuelta y con las manos ve ajustando el forro a la estructura de la mochila, aplánala con las manos y luego ponla a tender.

Cuando la mochila esté seca completamente, puedes plancharla porque la tela exterior se habrá quedado un poco arrugadita con la lavadora. Para planchar la tela es imprescindible que pongas un paño fino de algodón encima y que la plancha esté a nivel medio. Poco a poco ir aplicando la plancha y extremar la precaución del sobrepaño encima del polipiel. Si la plancha toca el polipiel ¡éste se va a quemar!

One of the most important things for me when designing your bags and accessories is to create quality products, useful and therefore made to last. To make it happen it is important to know how to wash them and keep them clean properly. Today’s post is about how to clean and iron your merchita von Belendi backpack easily and adequately.

Leatherette/faux leather backpacks: the most practical way to clean them is to use a wet cloth or towel with water, so easy can you remove the stains. If your bag or backpack combines fabric and leatherette you want to keep the fabric clean as well. In order to wash it in the machine do it at 30ºC and inside out preferably in a washbag/net. And do not wash the product too much, it is better if you keep it clean with a wet cloth.

When you took it out from the washing machine, turn it in and give shape to it with the hands. Then hang it up like it is shown below.

When the bag is completely dry you can proceed to iron it. To iron it properly you have to put a thin woven cloth or towel on the fabric and the heat level must be low. Proceed carefully and without a rush. Be carefull with the leatherette/faux leather, cover it. If the iron touches the faux leather it will burn and melt.

Me alegra saber la cantidad de pedidos que he tenido últimamente cuyo primer objetivo era adquirir un producto determinado siempre y cuando no utilizase materiales de origen animal.

A menudo hago hincapié en que los productos son hechos a mano, individualmente y “en casa” así como que los materiales y recursos que utilizo son, en toda la medida que puedo, éticos y/o apoyan el comercio local y sostenible ♡ Y para mí es imprescindible que lo ético englobe también al mundo animal. Por lo tanto es importante para mí que los bolsos, mochilas y demás productos que hago sean veganos; es decir, que no sean de origen animal.

Así que se me ha ocurrido crear un apartado adicional en el catálogo denominado vegan friendly para que tengas una referencia visual de todos los productos que contienen materiales veganos que he hecho hasta la fecha. Haz click en la siguiente imagen para verlo. ¡Espero que te guste la idea!

I am really glad to know that a lot of the latest orders I have received from you have one same goal, and it is to purchase some bag or accessory that is not made of an animal material/product. I do let you know often that my motivation here to sew and create products is to handmade them; individually and slow (slow fashion) and that I use materials and resources that are local, ethical and promote a sustainable consuption ♡ But another and not less important motivation is to offer you vegan-friendly tote bags, backpacks and more. Anything but animal products.

And therefore I have added an additional sub-menu vegan friendly in the catalogue in order that you have a visual reference of the vegan products that I have made so far. Click in the following picture to see it. I hope you enjoy it!

Cómo limpiar mi bolso · How do I clean my bag?

Una de las cosas más importantes para mí cuando diseño vuestros bolsos y accesorios es que sean productos de calidad, útiles y por consecuencia que duren mucho. Para que puedan durar en condiciones es importante saber cómo lavarlos y mantenerlos limpios. Así que hoy os comento cómo limpiar y planchar los productos merchita von Belendi de una forma adecuada.

Productos de tela con cremalleras: lavado a máximo 30ºC y dado la vuelta. Siempre es aconsejable meter la pieza en una bolsa-red de lavadora, para que las cremalleras no golpeen la lavadora o dañen otras prendas;

Bolsos de tela o productos con algo escrito o dibujado: la pintura o sellos que utilizo son por supuesto materiales textiles, por lo que son lavables hasta 60ºC. Estas bolsas de lona se suelen manchar mucho y es facilísimo tenerlas siempre limpitas 🙂

Productos con tela y polipiel: lo más práctico es limpiar de vez en cuando el polipiel con un trapito mojado en agua. Las manchas de líquidos o suciedad en general se irán en un plis. Si tu bolso o mochila combina polipiel y tela, querrás lavar la tela también de vez en cuando (y con un trapo no siempre es suficiente). Yo misma hice la prueba en casa y metí una mochila en la lavadora, dada la vuelta, a 30ºC y salió en perfecto estado 🙂 También te recomiendo meterla en una bolsa/red de lavadora para que los apliques no golpeen la lavadora o dañen otras prendas. Y bueno, tampoco lavarlo en exceso, claro está. Mejor mantenerlo limpio usando el trapito mojado de vez en cuando.

De esta manera ya sabes cómo mantener limpio tu bolso o mochila y que dure mucho muchito. Si quieres planchar la tela que haya quedado arrugadita por la lavadora, ¡siempre con un paño fino de algodón encima y con la plancha a un nivel medio!. Y por supuesto encima del polipiel extremar la precaución con la plancha (pañito o toalla fina siempre cubriendo el polipiel).

Por último comentarte que siempre agradezco mucho los feedbacks que me hacéis sobre los productos que me encargastéis hace tiempo, para saber si los seguís utilizando y si siguen en buen estado. Para mí no es sólo una alegría conocer el estado del producto y la utilidad que le dáis, ¡sino que me sirve de seguimiento para conocer mejor la durabilidad de lo que hago! Así que, gracias de antemano ♡

Zippered products: machine washable 30ºC, inside out. I recommend to put the product inside a washbag/net.

Handpainted products: washable paint max.60ºC. Canvas bags get dirty really quickly and it is actually easy to keep them clean!

Leatherette/faux leather products: the most practical way to clean them is to use a wet cloth or towel with water, so easy can you remove the stains. If your bag or backpack combines fabric and leatherette you want to keep the fabric clean as well. Machine washable 30ºC, inside out. I tested it myself and the there was no damage on the product. I recommend to put it if possible in a washbag/net. And do not wash it too much 😉 keep it clean with the wet cloth!

Now you know how to keep the product clean and make it last! If you want to iron the fabric after the washmachine, do not forget to put a thin woven cloth or towel on the fabric. And with the leatherette please be careful with the iron and cover it always with a cloth and switch the iron to a low level.

Finally I would like to say that a feedback of the products you own is always welcome, if you are still using it and if it is still in a good condition. It is not only a great pleasure for me to know the condition of the product and if you still use it but also helps me to know the durability of what I do. Therefore I thank you in advance for it ♡
